Companies Use Their Own Power

This is how internal industrial energy utilisation works

Thanks to amendments to the EEG (German Renewable Energy Act), any decentrally produced solar energy can now be used directly. This option is not only open to the private sector, industrial users can also profit from this amendment. That means that the energy generated can be utilised here in terms of energy management (i.e., peak shaving or load levelling). For instance, peak loads can be covered with self-produced energy from renewable sources which scales back the costs of energy. Beyond this, users become much more independent of line current while improving their CO2 balance sheet. HOPPECKE is using the example of its Green Logistics concept to demonstrate what such an energy supply might look like.

In the Beginning there was Light…and Wind
As the name already suggests, we came up with our Green Logistics concept for logistics with its point of departure being plants for generating solar and wind energy: PV modules and wind power plants. They can be placed in previously unused areas such as the roof of the logistics hall where the energy generated can be used directly. The surplus energy is put into intermediate storage and can be called off at a later point in time – for instance, at times of the day when power from the network is too expensive as well as for bridging load peaks or equalising loads. The energy storage medium forms the pivotal unit of the system.

“Energy Container”: The Heart of the System
A modular energy system is used for storing regenerative energies that contains all of the components needed for energy storage, distribution and control. This system is put together after making a needs analysis for the individual user. The user can choose various technologies for the storage medium, although lead-acid technology batteries are wide-spread because they are engineered specifically for renewable energies. The best thing about these solar.power batteries is their higher level of cycle stability, long life in partial discharge operation and improved storage properties. Energy storage media based on the Li-ion technology are also used. These batteries also have cycle stability, are absolutely maintenance-free in comparison to lead-acid batteries. They have a high level of energy density and a low level of self-discharge. Furthermore, fuel cells can be integrated into the system for being even more independent of line current.

This entire system is rounded out by the high-performance electronics that regulates the flow of energy, interaction of all system components and efficiency of the energy storage based on system and environmental parameters defined in advance. Finally, the In-Spector® monitoring systems applied provide complete round-the-clock monitoring to guarantee the system’s functioning and prevent malfunctions.

Flexibility with Modularity
Due to its modularity, the Green Logistics concept can be used flexibly and can be transferred without restrictions on further industrial and safety-related applications. This flexibility also helps customers drive down their investment expenditures. Our energy strategy combines the systems in a fashion that leads you to an economically and ecologically efficient energy solution.
