The move from rented accommodation into the new R&D Centre at Zwickau is planned for the end of 2010. By mid- 2011, a production demonstrator for Li-ion und NiMH battery modules and battery systems will have been set up in the new production building.
The development team at ABT in Zwickau is currently working on five government-backed research topics, plus several more subjects at the request of customers.
The development of the GM 2 Li basic module means that a standard component has been created which will form the basis for the design of complex battery systems for a very wide range of industrial applications.

In the module, both thermal and battery management are integrated, and the system is made safe by the integrated monitoring of critical parameters. When the modules are interconnected in parallel or in series in larger battery systems, they communicate with one another. Information on the condition of the battery system may also be sent to the user or to a higherlevel control system.

The interlinking of Product Development (module), Technology Development (assembly) and System Development (BMS, software) provides ABT with an advantageous general framework for innovations in new product ranges and manufacturing technology. They will attend us on our Mission 2015
