For 25 years HOPPECKE has been turning employees into partners

25 Jahre HOPPECKE GENUSSRECHTE – ein Modell feiert Geburtstag –
This anniversary was celebrated jointly by active holders of profit-sharing rights in the HOPPECKE Group and by pensioners who retired directly from HOPPECKE. Employee participation is the sharing of employees in communication, decision-making and knowledge, and also in the economic success of the company.

Alongside numerous measures of intangible involvement, HOPPECKE has for 25 years now had a successful form of material involvement: the scheme for employee participation through so-called profit-sharing rights. This now covers over 600 active and retired staff and a total holding in the company of over 2 million €.

Company management, and the partnership committee representing profit-sharing scheme members, took this opportunity to hold a celebration in the Hoppecke Riflemen’s Hall. Claus Zoellner, now chairman of the Advisory Council, looked back with the guests on 25 years of successful employee capital participation. Dr. Marc Zoellner, managing partner, underlined the importance of the model for the demanding targets and the general future of the company: “We are turning employees into partners!”.

Werner Beele, Chairman of the Partnership Committee, then presented some facts and figures relating to the HOPPECKE profit-sharing scheme, after which the high point of the event was reached. This was a speech by Friedrich Merz (member of the German parliament), in which he emphasised the importance of employee participation as a “powerful instrument for medium-sized businesses” and stressed the value of employee capital participation as an element in personal retirement provision.

In another highlight of the evening, awards were made to four employees who had subscribed to the profit-sharing scheme every year since its inception, so contributing to the success of the company and its profit-sharing rights scheme. After the official part of the proceedings had ended, active and retired staff used the opportunity to bring themselves up to date with company affairs, or just to enjoy a few convivial hours together.

Since 1984 HOPPECKE has offered participation in the company through the acquisition of profit-sharing rights. The aim of clarifying and securing material employee participation through a genuine capital participation scheme of long-term character has also been gradually made easier through government legislation. Here at HOPPECKE we are convinced that, as a medium-sized company in a competitive global environment, we must also in the future be quicker in taking the decisive steps. For that to happen, we need every individual with his or her capabilities. Our profit-sharing rights scheme turns our employees into partners. Thoughts and actions occurring against this background give us that decisive edge and, not least of all, convince our customers.
