The leading international trade fair for energy storage systems, Energy Storage Europe, entered new record results this year. With significant increases in exhibitors and visitors the fair was a meeting point for international experts in the field of energy storage systems. Within the conference program, HOPPECKE product manager Matthias Bueter spoke about the functional safety management for Li-Ion Energy Storage Systems.
The Li-Ion cells need defined operating windows to operate safe and smooth. Matthias Bueter showed his approach for the functional safety assessment, pointed out parameters for the safety integrity level and presented tests to check the specific observance and methods to check the reliability.
HOPPECKE was one of just three platinum sponsors of the Energy Storage Europe. Especially the first large-scale hybrid energy storage system met great interest among the visitors. The sun | systemizer  is the world's first VRLA/ lithium hybrid system of its kind. The first system is currently being built in Brilon-Hoppecke. The sun | systemizer is controlled by the intelligent HOPPECKE EMS (energy management system). All the relevant battery and component data, including variables such as room temperature, are recorded in real time and analysed on a networked basis. In automatic mode, the EMS can control and regulate power in the event of critical variations.
