Already in February, the first major fair presentation was on HOPPECKE’s agenda. At the LogiMAT in Stuttgart, the International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow, the family company from the Sauerland region presented its broad range of products – around batteries, charging devices and service. Dr Karl Schneider, District Administrator of the Hochsauerlandkreis, informed himself about the opportunities offered by innovative storage technologies. Like many other fair visitors, Dr Schneider tried his luck at the slot machine called one-armed bandit, which was the highlight of the fair stand. The machine was made of three charging devices modified for this purpose.
The New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre established a record attendance with more than 35,000 trade visitors over the three trade fair days. HOPPECKE presented its product range in addition to more than 1,100 national and international exhibitors. The expectations were exceeded at the 42m² fair stand. “With the record attendance, this fair was a very good contact platform for us”, concludes Daniel Dicker, Sales Manager Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Motive Power.
Based on a foundation of more than 87 years of experience – always updated by research and development activities – the company supplies the necessary energy storage technology for every type of application. At this fair, the main focus was on the lithium-ion technology which is increasingly in demand. Since this technology is characterised by the attributes safe, flexible, maintenance-free and fast-chargeable, it provides innovative products ready-for-sale.
The quality and efficiency of each battery is assured by coordinated charging. The newly developed, optimised generation of the high-frequency charging devices, which perfectly responds to the steadily increasing demands in logistics and intra-logistics, was of great interest for the fair visitors of the LogiMAT. Energy-efficient and gentle charging is ensured by using sophisticated battery management systems. These systems optimise the interaction between battery and charging device due to a constant exchange of information. A touchscreen display constitutes the communication centre of the new charging device generation which can be used to easily retrieve all relevant data at any time: In an efficient and interactive way.
Investments at the location in Hoppecke
Successful fair activities and the satisfaction of our customers can only be achieved if, in particular, quality and delivery time leave nothing to be desired. HOPPECKE achieves this through a constant process of improvement in all stages of production. Under the programme "Plant|2019", which was introduced in 2014, the processes in the value chain are optimised by specific measures. Here, the focus is on the experience of the employees who recognise best where there is the need for optimisation. Last year, for example, the automated, robot-supported production line for traction cells was renewed. The innovation in the modern production line greatly contributes to the improvements in productivity and capacity at the HOPPECKE location. The development of this machine, whose result is a higher production accuracy, has been implemented by collaborating with a plant manufacturer from Zwickau. Another innovation can be found in the production step “Formation” – the capacities for commissioning the traction cells are improved. “This improvement results in increased productivity and reduced lead times. Saving energy is also included – a very important factor within the company”, explains Christoph Wiedemeier, the project manager of Plant|2019.
Much is currently happening - not only in the production, but also in the office buildings at the company’s home location. The completion of the new, modern office block in Hoppecke is running at full speed. In the future, 130 employees of the more than 1,800 employees will be working in it. Until the beginning of the fiscal year 2016, in April, the building site in and around the building will transform into an inviting, modern object. In the upper floor of the building flooded with light, the elegant customer centre with associated clearly structured product exhibition and conference area will be found – an area which provides opportunities for various types of events, informative customer events or even internal or external celebrations. The investments are both a sign of securing the location in Hoppecke and important in order to sustainably strengthen the competitiveness of the local family company!
