Germany's most beautiful truck: HOPPECKE Shuttle travels across the country every day
The distance between Zwickau and Bad Wünnenberg-Haaren is about 380 kilometers. A truck drives this route there and back every day for HOPPECKE. For almost a year now with a specially designed semi-trailer tarpaulin.
The HOPPECKE Logistics Center Haaren is located about 30 kilometres from the headquarters in Brilon, directly connected to motorways 33 and 44. An ideal starting point for transports in all directions. From here HOPPECKE products are shipped all over the world. The Logistics Center is the contact point for goods from suppliers as well. The Logistics Center Haaren is also of great importance for company-internal logistics between the locations in Brilon and Zwickau.
A shuttle truck runs daily from Zwickau to Haaren and back. On the way there, he brings battery chargers produced in Zwickau and complete systems for the rail application area to Haaren. On the way back, the shuttle transports lead and nickel-cadmium cells (FNC) to the Zwickau plant. Here, not only high-performance drive systems for railways are assembled, but also the trak|systemizer dynamics energy systems that drive vehicles with particularly high short-term energy requirements.
For these daily trips HOPPECKE works together with the forwarding company Sebastian Bauer, which transports goods all over Europe with about 150 employees. HOPPECKE Director of Logistics Franz Josef Ulmschneider reports on how the idea for the company's own trailer tarpaulin came about: "We have been working with the forwarding agency for more than two years, initially it started as individual transports from Zwickau to Haaren. We have rapidly intensified our partnership with Bauer because here we not only have a very reliable and flexible partner, but also one who is constantly working with us to optimise logistics and transport processes. As the forwarding agency Bauer now operates the Zwickau-Haaren-Zwickau route for us on a daily basis, the idea of using an own trailer for this, which of course comes in HOPPECKE design, soon arose".
