Optimization of battery supply for the logistics center - Tuesday, 04.03.2025

1 | Challenge:

The customer operates a vast logistics centre in Dortmund, featuring a 200,000 m² warehouse and 430,000 pallet spaces, where operational efficiency is crucial to order processing. To streamline warehouse operations, it utilises a fleet of around 1,000 forklift batteries. The main market segment is furniture, which requires fast and reliable delivery.

The customer faced significant challenges with the supply of replacement batteries for forklift trucks. Frequent delays from the previous supplier led to warehouse downtime, negatively affecting productivity and operational efficiency. Seeking a solution, the customer looked for an alternative supplier capable of ensuring timely deliveries and meeting operational demands to maintain seamless warehouse operations with a fast and reliable battery supply.

2 | Solution:

Performance optimization with AGM technology

This led the customer to place its first order with HOPPECKE. The special „Pool Batteries" are not permanently assigned to a single forklift but can be used flexibly across the fleet, reducing downtime. Their short delivery times and exceptional reliability, reaching 1,956 charge cycles, made them the ideal choice.

The collaboration began with a thorough assessment of the customer's needs, after which the HOPPECKE team provided expert guidance, optimised the solution, and tailored the offer to operational requirements. Following battery implementation, the customer saw a significant improvement in forklift availability, directly enhancing warehouse efficiency. Key performance indicators showed a notable reduction in downtime and a measurable increase in productivity.

This strategic partnership met the customer’s immediate needs and established a strong foundation for future collaboration and expansion.
