HOPPECKE Zwickau develops new drive technology for public transport network.
High-voltage lithium batteries are the latest development of HOPPECKE Zwickau for electric-powered busses in public transport, offering an outstanding benefit: They can be recharged extremely quickly!
In line operation, it is now possible to recharge busses equipped with these batteries at the respective terminal stop within just a few minutes to an extent that lasts for the next route or tour even. A strong advantage for operators: The bus does not have to go back to the depot to be recharged.
The battery systems were developed in Zwickau and are equipped with special lithium battery cells allowing for a very high charging rate on the one hand and an ingenious cooling system on the other. Charging capacities of 500 kW are thus technically feasible and implemented.
Test phase is successfully completed!
The batteries were developed within the framework of a research project and are now successfully tested in line operation. If these purely electric busses gain their energy from solar power in the future, this extra power can also be temporarily stored, of course.
This is an important milestone in our HOPPECKE mission to provide energy by using proven and new components and skills.
