Electric and hybrid solutions are also very popular in the marine sector. They enable reduced fuel consumption and reduced emissions. HOPPECKE take part at this year's Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo (27 to 29 June 2018 in Amsterdam, Netherlands). The world's largest marine trade fair is dedicated exclusively to the latest and upcoming technologies, components and solutions for electric and hybrid ship propulsion systems.

HOPPECKE has been involved in the marine sector for several years. One project, for example, is the climate-neutral seminar ship, which has a hybrid propulsion system consisting of batteries and a biofuel engine. The propulsion batteries are supplied by HOPPECKE as well as those for on-board electrics and emergency power supply.

HOPPECKE is currently a project partner of the Elektra research project. Here, an energy-efficient push boat is being developed. HOPPECKE provides the lithium-battery system.

HOPPECKE experts will be available at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo to discuss new projects and innovative energy solutions. On display will be a high-performance lithium high-voltage system that can be used to propel ships as well as railway locomotives.

Last year more than 4,000 visitors came to the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo in Amsterdam, where over 130 exhibits were on show and there was a lot to learn from around 60 conference presentations. This meant that the fair attracted more visitors, more participants and more exhibits than ever before. The number of new technologies presented was also large. The success of Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo 2017, which has established itself as the world's largest trade fair and conference for marine propulsion, was a clear signal that electrical support for the shipping industry is of central importance.
