The Hoppecke UK team is always keen to support our local community. It’s been a tough year financially for many people, so we were especially keen to help out this Christmas.

Foodbank donation

We’re delighted to support Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank by making a £500 donation. This money will help to provide food for local people in crisis.

Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust.  The doors opened on 3 May 2012. Initially, the foodbank partnered with ‘front-line’ agencies to give out up to three food vouchers to those in need. Additionally, it set up seven centres to distribute food across the City.

Nutritionally balanced food

Since then, local people have donated 436,000kg of food. Thanks to their generosity, the foodbank has provided three days’ supply of nutritionally balanced food to more than 49,000 people.

Today, Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank operates 15 distribution centres and its dedicated warehouse space occupies an entire Methodist Church building.

Covid-19 impact

The impact of Covid-19 has made life especially challenging in 2020. During the past 12 months more than 14,000 people have sought support from Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank. In over a third of cases emergency food supplies went to children.
