They are quiet, don't stink and save a lot of money: The decision for electrically powered forklifts and against those with diesel engines is actually a no-brainer. In the meantime, electric forklifts are becoming increasingly powerful and are already being used in areas that were previously reserved for diesel forklifts. These power trucks require equally powerful battery chargers to quickly and efficiently recharge their batteries.
The new electric forklift truck from Kalmar is the first battery-powered so-called mid-range truck. It comes in various sizes and can lift loads from 9 to 18 tons. Forklifts of this size are used, for example, in the wood or paper industry, in the automotive industry, in foundries or in concrete plants. The customers of Kalmar, which is part of the internationally operating Finnish Cargotec Group, come from all over the world.

Emission-free and noiseless battery-powered truck


The new mid-range electric powered trucks logically produce no emissions on site. In this way, they ensure considerably better working conditions. In addition, it is also possible to operate the electric forklift trucks in a completely climate-neutral manner by generating the required electricity from renewable energy sources such as the sun or wind. The electric forklift truck also avoids the vibration caused by diesel engines. In addition, these battery-powered vehicles are of course much quieter.
But it is not only for the workers on the forklift truck and in the field of application that an electric forklift truck brings many advantages, it also pays off. The purchase of the new Kalmar midrange truck is more expensive than the comparable model with diesel engine. According to the manufacturer, the investment pays off after about 2 years. Service costs can be halved by comparison due to longer service intervals and a reduced number of wear parts. Besides a particularly powerful power mode and normal operation, the Kalmar electric stacker is also equipped with an economy mode, which can save another 10 to 20 percent during operation.

Electric forklift from Kalmar with user-friendly and reliable charger


HOPPECKE supplies the chargers for the new Kalmar electric forklifts. With the high-frequency trak|power multi charge charger, the Kalmar customer receives the energy required for the power stacker in the fastest possible time. The collaboration between Kalmar and HOPPECKE is a new partnership: "We have been in favour of zero-emission forklifts for a long time, and we are now very proud to be the first manufacturer in the world to offer electric-powered high performance trucks in the 9 to 18 t capacity class. We deliver all trucks with batteries and charger. It was important for us to use a powerful and reliable charger that is easy to operate for the user. HOPPECKE has been certified as an official supplier by the international Cargotec Group, to which Kalmar belongs. The Kalmar service technicians have already been trained by HOPPECKE specialists at the Swedish production site in Lidhult and are now able to service the high-frequency charger independently. Kalmar's research and development department also received training in order to configure the charger individually for customers of the new electric mid-range truck.
